Have you posted any episodes of best bargain cell phone plans in the US? I have an iPhone but have been overseas the last 4 years in Italy where I was paying 10 euros a month for cell service.

Switching back and forth between Android and iOS has never been a problem nor between Mac, PC or Linux. It's just like being multilingual.

i use both a iphone 7 plus and a s8 plus. The biggest problem is from the iphone side where i can't change anything inside the app. i have to go to settings and then go to each app which is dumb. But since i don't have to fix stuff often i don't have a problem.

If I go budget I would get the Moto G5 plus. For a budget phone, that thing is solid. Only thing I would miss on it is NFC.
